A dream vacation in the mountains on a lake! Watauga Lake has been called "the third cleanest lake in the US" by the TVA and with 80% protected by the Cherokee National Forest, it will maintain it's pristine beauty.
Some weeks for the summer are already gone. Don't delay if you want to stay at the Lakeside Cottage this summer!
Bring your boat and tie it to the trees or pull it right up on shore! A fire ring for roasting marshmallows and a picnic pavilion just 10 steps from the water are perfect for watching the swimmers as they enjoy the lake.
One day perhaps you'll enjoy hiking one of the local trails or a section of the Appalachian Trail and be amazed by the waterfalls cascading down from the mountains to the lake.
Bristol Caverns are great on a rainy day; Rocky Mount Living History Museum follows the seasons in the day of the life of the settlers in 1791; the Hands On Museum has something for all ages to explore; take a ride around the "fastest half-mile track" the Bristol Speedway; fish, play golf on Roan Valley Golf Course; go biking on the Virginia Creeper Trail, attend country auctions and festivals; go antiquing and find unique hand made crafts at www.hometowntreasures.com .
