Our largest cabin--spacious accommodations for two couples, or can accommodate 7 using queen sleeper sofa and twin rollaway bed. 1400 sq. ft.; bedroom on main level with either a king bed or two twin beds; loft bedroom with either a king bed or two twin beds; queen sleeper sofa in living room; two bathrooms with tub showers; fully equipped kitchen; laundry facilities; porch with panoramic view.

The Alta Ranch's Cottonwood cabin offers spacious accommodations for two couples or can accommodate 7 using the queen sleeper sofa in the living room and a twin rollaway bed. It is our largest cabin and at 1400 square feet it is more like a vacation home than a cabin. It features two bedrooms, each with either a king bed or two twin beds, two bathrooms with tub showers, a spacious living/dining room with wood stove, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, and porch with panoramic view.
The Cottonwood is our most private cabin, situated by itself on the west side of the ranch. It has a small creek running next to the cabin and a private campfire site nearby. It offers a gorgeous view of the valley and surrounding mountains.
The river is about two-tenths of a mile away, just an easy stroll across the meadow. |

90 miles south of Missoula, Montana, just a 2-hour drive from the airport
50 miles south of Hamilton, Montana and 30 miles south of the charming little western town of Darby, Montana
2 miles south of Painted Rocks Lake recreation area
Surrounded by the Bitterroot National Forest and adjacent to the largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower 48 states: the 2.3-million-acre Frank Church-River of No Return and the 1.2-million-acre Selway-Bitterroot wildernesses
Getting to the Alta Ranch
The Missoula International Airport is the usual air destination. It is served by Delta, Horizon, Northwest, and United/SkyWest airlines. We recommend renting a car at the airport for the scenic 2-hour drive from the airport to the ranch.
The Alta Ranch is approximately 5 hours by car from Spokane, Washington, 9 hours by car from Seattle, and 9 hours by car from Salt Lake City.
From Highway 93 approximately 3 miles south of Darby turn west on West Fork Road (Route 473) and proceed 27 miles to 9203 West Fork Road.

$220 a night for two, $10 each extra person (May-Sept 2005)
$180 a night for two, $10 each extra person (Oct 2005 - Feb 2006)
All rates are subject to 7% Montana Accommodations Tax.
Rates include unlimited use of all ranch facilities including catch-and-release trout pond, canoe, rowboat, campfire sites, clubhouse, and laundry.
The minimum stay is 3 nights. Check-in after 4:00 p.m. Check-out by 11:00 a.m.
No smoking inside the cabins, but allowed on the porch.
No pets allowed.
Deposit of 50% is required within 7 days of reservation. Balance is due upon arrival. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, personal checks, travelers checks, money orders, and of course cash. Deposits are refundable, less a $25 cancellation fee, up to 60 days before arrival. Within 60 days of arrival, deposits are refundable only if we are able to book the canceled space. If you must leave the Alta Ranch before your reserved time is complete, you will be responsible for the entire time reserved. |
