Description
Congress House, nestled in the spa town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, is a perfect vacation rental for family get-togethers. Enjoy this renovated 100-year-old house in the 'Town of Bath', approximately 90 miles from the Washington and Baltimore beltways. It is also ideal for two or three families to come together for a week or weekend vacation.
The house is situated a quiet side street within easy walking distance (three blocks) of the center of town. It has four bedrooms (two with queen-sized beds), with additional beds on the second-floor enclosed porch and in a finished attic (Munchkin territory). One of the two full baths has a clawfoot tub. A patio overlooking the back yard slopes down to Warm Springs Run. A fireplace in the living room keeps you warm on chilly days, and air conditioning keeps you cool when the temperatures rise. For your added convenience, the kitchen is fully equipped and a washer and dryer are provided, as are linens and utensils.
Berkeley Springs has been a popular spa since at least the mid-eighteenth century. George Washington, among several others, bathed (as well as slept) here. In his early days as a surveyor, he also plotted the town. The mineral springs are now the central feature of a small state park in the center of town, where one can have a relaxing soak in the waters, followed by a massage. Berkeley Springs also has numerous antique shops, a thriving community of artists, and frequent weekend festivals. The town is an excellent center for exploring the beauty of scenic Morgan County.
