Description
Mayacama Mountaintop Retreat is a unique and separate vacation rental dwelling on top of the Mayacama Mountain Range in Sonoma County, California's wine country. For the fortunate few who visit these five acres of pristine terrain each year, this is a remembrance of the lost art of living.
The cottage provides lodging accommodations that are separate from the main house, allowing privacy for the most intimate and romantic getaways. Clair de Lune Cottage, named for the enchanting light that surrounds her and nestled in an oak grove, overlooks views of the winter-spring creek below and the meadows beyond. Clair de Lune offers a Jacuzzi tub and shower as well as picture windows all around, small kitchen, gas fireplace, and French doors leading to a circular deck. This round, newly built cedar cottage has a dome skylight over the bed for moon and star watching.
As with most things, it's the little touches that mean so much. The floors are handcrafted madrone, with plush natural carpets. There are sweet soaps, natural shampoos, and bath salts in the bath. A basket with fine local wine, fresh organic fruits, and a selection of gourmet coffees and tees is offered to guests.
Recreation and activities abound in the area. Of course, the Sonoma Valley provides the best in both wine tasting and dining. Hike the fertile acreage of Mayacama Mountaintop as you discover lush vegetation and breathtaking scenery. Visit the many historic sites of Sonoma Valley. Spring Lake is excellent for most water activities, and Calistoga mud baths and hot springs are wonderful for relaxing after a day on the water and in the sun. Back at your home away from home, unwind in the hot tub, watching each star slip out for its night-time display.
